My <a href=\"http:\/\/xi.tep.org\/\">fraternity<\/a> brother <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nivi.com\/\">Nivi<\/a> just lost his voice, so he went and purchased a nice-sounding text-to-speech voice for his Mac at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepstral.com\/\">Cepstral<\/a> and piped its output into <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cepstral.com\/\">Skype<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cycling74.com\/products\/soundflower.html\">Soundflower<\/a>. Voil\u00e0 \u2014 instant TTS phone.<\/p>\n<p>I remember <a href=\"http:\/\/www.varrd.emory.edu\/personnel\/index.cfm?recordID=E34A2F73-09B9-C350-462577E79ADFD12C\">David Ross<\/a> once told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.media.mit.edu\/wearables\/lizzy\/lizzy\/\">a story<\/a> about how the Model T Ford (nicknamed the &#8220;Tin Lizzy&#8221;) was adapted to all sorts of things unexpected things, from winching wagons to pumping water. The key was the car&#8217;s simplicity: it was just a motor on wheels, and it didn&#8217;t take an expert to that motor for something besides driving.
