{"id":152,"date":"2004-07-22T19:15:07","date_gmt":"2004-07-22T19:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.docbug.com\/blog\/archives\/152"},"modified":"2004-07-22T19:15:07","modified_gmt":"2004-07-22T19:15:07","slug":"article-on-pr-people-and-blogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.docbug.com\/blog\/archives\/152","title":{"rendered":"Article on PR People and blogs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/steverubel.typepad.com\/micropersuasion\/\">Micro  Persuasion<\/a> has re-posted an interesting article from a  public-relations industry newsletter: <a  href=\"http:\/\/steverubel.typepad.com\/micropersuasion\/2004\/07\/paul_holmes_pr_.html\">It&#8217;s  Time to Take Blogs Seriously \u2014 and Maybe to Develop One of Your  Own<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;To those people who still think that blogs are &#8216;loose cannons,&#8217; I&#8217;d say that they should embrace the revolution, or become cannon fodder,&#8221; says [Shift Communications principal Todd] Defren.<br \/> &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Some of the rules [Microsoft <a href=\"http:\/\/radio.weblogs.com\/0001011\/\">blogger<\/a> Robert Scoble] suggests in his manifesto should be followed by anyone who wants to run a corporate weblog:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tell the truth<\/li>\n<li>Post fast on good news or bad<\/li>\n<li>Use a human voice<\/li>\n<li>Have a thick skin<\/li>\n<li>If you screw up, acknowledge it<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t have the answers, say so<\/li>\n<li>Never lie<\/li>\n<li>Never hide information<\/li>\n<li>Link to your competitors and be nice to them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> &#8230;  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The empowering nature of the Internet will allow users to blog with or without corporate permission,&#8221; Defren says. &#8220;The blogger who is encouraged with tools, freedom, and a few simple rules-of-the-road becomes a valuable advocate for the company.
